Special Education Student Information System (SESIS)
The Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support (DSISS) is seeking an experienced IT Specialist to be part of the MIS/Analytics Team to support data and reporting for students with disabilities in all school settings, including remote learning settings as a result of COVID-19. As a result of COVID-19 and implementation of Remote learning for all students, new processes and data systems are emerging to support monitoring and supporting students with disabilities in remote settings.
DSISS is engaged in a multi-year, system-wide reform of special education and is building the capacity to close the achievement gap and improve compliance with key special education indicators. Under the direction of the Director of Data, Reporting and Analytics, The IT Specialist Uses advanced data programming and SQL data modeling skills to combine data from multiple data sources in order to provide insightful and actionable analyses, reports, and dashboards that drive key business decisions related to Students with Disabilities, the SESIS project and Remote Learning Instruction as a result of COVID-19. The IT Specialist also undertakes complex data analysis techniques, including but not limited to descriptive, exploratory, predictive and inferential analyses to improve overall effectiveness of the SESIS project and utilizes the results of the data analysis to develop business intelligence reports and dashboards to support business needs.
Performing as a member of the Data Analytics and Reporting
team, the reporting analyst is responsible for developing and
continually refining data reporting and analytical processes
including data models used in the development of operational
and management report and dashboards. Responsibilities
• Design, develop and implement databases and/or
data marts that will be used to feed automated
operational and management dashboards produced
on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Design responsive data reports and analysis utilizing
new and emerging processes and systems
supporting remote learning as a result of COVID-19.
• Extract and transform data from multiple internal
systems into a consolidated database and/or data
mart that will be used for reporting, dashboards and
• Conversion of existing reports, dashboards and data
processes to accommodate source application
• Utilizes analyses to design and develop tools,
techniques, metrics and dashboards for insights and
data visualization in existing business intelligence
• Fulfill ad-hoc requests
• Develop, test and implement SQL data queries and
• Act as technical expert for all BI and Data Modeling
• Ensure that all database designs conform to
appropriate data modeling standards, guidelines,
internal best practices and approved modeling
techniques and approaches.
• Integrate new data management technologies and
software engineering tools into existing structures
• Collaborate with Data Architects and IT team
members on reporting requirements
