CHIEF DATA OFFICE DIRECTOR
The Chief Data Governance Office (CDGO) is an enterprise authority that defines data management strategies, drives data management priorities, and issues Enterprise Data Standards and guidelines with the goal of enhancing and continuously improving the controls over creation and maintenance of data. The CDGO drives data management discipline for the firm and fosters a culture that recognizes data as the fuel that drives our business. The CDGO Policy and Data Controls Lead is a direct report to the Data Risk and Control Officer within the CDGO. The role will be responsible for managing the P&G team and developing and driving the implementation of data related policies as well as managing the validation of compliance with the policies and overall data management controls. The roles requires an understanding of the financial industry and experience working in data management. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Specific responsibilities include:
Partner with Major Global Bank’s network of Federated CDOs, Data Transformation Sponsors, etc. across the businesses and functions for data governance and data control related delivery
Drive Major Global Bank Data Management Policy (CDMP) and related Data Governance Standards adherence across Major Global Bank in an efficient and effective manner, assisting in the creation and monitoring of metrics to evidence adherence.
Provide subject matter expertise on industry best practices across Major Global Bank
Monitor and enforce data policies, procedures and standards. Identify gaps in compliance and work with data owners/custodians to put plans in place to close identified gaps
Monitor and drive Corporate and Regulatory commitments to timely completion
Manage dependencies across related programs and initiatives
Bachelor's degree in a Business, Data, Finance, or IT discipline or equivalent work experience. A master’s degree is preferred.
15+ years’ experience in IT, governance and data related processes, developing complex, cross business change strategies with a proven track record of execution
15+ years’ experience in the development of data governance principles, policies, processes, practices and standards.
Proven experience managing experienced professionals
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, active listening) required, ability to synthesize key messages and story tell.
Solid grasp of executive level business decision making processes and the data and tools that feed into it
Track record of developing Enterprise level data strategies and scalable process designs consistent with industry practices
Experience developing completely new, well controlled, business processes across multiple, differing businesses
Ability to apply influencing and relationship management skills to generate productive, and inclusive, team dynamics across a matrixed organization
Demonstrated ability to manage enterprise wide projects and budgets
